HARDWOOD FLOORING offers classic beauty and character.
Interior
decorators have always utilized the clean and classic look of hardwood
floors as a key ingredient in their designs. Hardwood simply never goes
out of fashion, providing both a timeless and a traditional basis for
building a room that is at the same time stylish and inviting. Today's
sophisticated manufacturing techniques produce high quality products
suitable for installation in almost any room of the house.
Parkhurst Flooring offers pre-finished solid
hardwood and pre-finished engineered hardwood from a wide variety of
leading manufacturers. We have woods that range from the traditional
oaks and maple to the exotic woods such as Brazilian cherry, mahogany,
and tigerwood. Many of the wood planks are available in a variety of
stains, and several finishes, from high to low gloss.
We also install unfinished solid hardwood, which
we sand and seal with multiple coats of the highest grade of
polyurethane. That is often the best option in some older houses where
the homeowner is looking to extend or match hardwood already installed.
We can usually refinish existing hardwood and blend it exactly with the
new wood.
Today's
pre-finished hardwoods are far superior to what was available even a few
years ago. Manufacturers apply five to ten coats of finish, usually a
polyurethane injected with an aluminum oxide compound to produce a much
more durable and predictable finish. Many hardwood manufacturers also
apply some type of ultraviolet protection to reduce the possibility of
darkening or yellowing over time.
Engineered products are made by applying a layer
of hardwood to a multi-layer plywood base. That allows hardwood to be
installed in below grade applications, which is not recommended with
solid wood products. Many of the engineered products have a wear layer
thick enough that they can be screened and coated if it's ever
necessary, though the quality of today's finishes makes that seem an
unlikely situation.
So whether you have an existing installation that
needs to be refinished or you're just ready to upgrade to a quality
hardwood floor, Parkhurst Flooring can help you. Call us or stop by our
